The Co-operative Bank launches £10,000 prize draw for charity and community customers

The rising cost of borrowing has boosted earnings at Co-operative Bank, which recorded a fourfold rise in profits last year.

The Co-operative Bank has announced a new £10,000 prize draw exclusively for its Charity and Community Account customers, as it celebrates a decade of being named the UK’s Best Charity Banking Provider by Business Moneyfacts.

New and existing customers with at least £5,000 held in an eligible account before 31 July 2025 will be automatically entered into the draw, with one organisation set to win a £10,000 cash prize. Customers who have banked with The Co-operative Bank for at least 10 years will receive an additional entry into the draw.

The draw is open to customers of the Charity and Community Account – formerly known as the Community DirectPlus Account – which provides free everyday banking to registered charities, co-operatives, community interest companies, and credit unions.

James Wall, Head of Charity Banking at The Co-operative Bank, said: “As the original ethical bank, we’re experts in supporting charities, co-operatives and organisations in the social enterprise sector to make a difference in their communities. This is a fantastic time to make the switch to The Co-operative Bank, and be in with a chance of winning an incredible £10,000.”

The award-winning account offers a range of benefits including no monthly fees, discounted merchant services, free Go Get Paid access, accountancy software integration and 50% off a subscription to sustainability platform Zellar.

For smaller organisations that do not meet the prize draw criteria, The Co-operative Bank also runs a Customer Donation Fund. Since its launch, the fund has donated over £1.2 million in grants of up to £1,000 to more than 1,300 community organisations.

Chas Sargeant, Chair of Coniston Co-operative Society, praised the Bank’s approach: “We’re proud to bank with The Co-operative Bank – they really understand us as an organisation.” Fiona Ebbs, the society’s Office Manager, added: “With the opportunity to win such a huge sum of money, there’s even more reason for socially and environmentally conscious organisations like us to bank with them.”
